Treatment Planning

If diagnosed with ADHD and medication is recommended, you can choose to be treated via the AOA clinic. You will be co-managed between the AOA GP and the psychiatrist.

  • The medication will be prescribed by the psychiatrist Dr. Akuh Adaji.
  • Monitoring and adjusting of the medication will be done by the AOA Clinic GP
  • The AOA Clinic GP can adjust the medication, however they are unable to provide prescriptions as they do not hold a prescribing permit.
  • If the medication needs to be changed, adjusted or a new prescription is needed, a case conference will be organised with the AOA clinic GP, the psychiatrist and the care coordinator.
    •  *****Please note - at times, you may run out of medication before a case conference is available – this only occurs in the early stages when trying to figure out which medication regime works.
    • *****Pharmacies are unable to refill prescriptions early.
  • Your eligibility for case conferences is dependent on attending the review appointments with the AOA Clinic GP.
  • Dr. Akuh Adaji will bulk bill the case conference, which ensures the process is kept as affordable for you as possible, whilst still being able to consult with a psychiatrist in a relatively short time frame. A $$79.10 out of pocket fee applies for the GP’s & care coordinators attendance at case conferences.
  • Once you are stable and happy with the medication that works for you, we will transfer you to your local GP who can apply for a permit to take over the prescribing. Dr. Adaji will provide you with some repeats to ensure there is adequate time for this.
  • As part of the treatment plan, Dr. Adaji will refer patients to Occupational therapist or ADHD coaches at Care Plan 365 https://www.cp365.health/find-provider . This is a recommendation Dr Adaji makes as part of the ADHD care plan to assist with meeting your goals.
  • It is the patient's responsibility to ensure they are eligible for Medicare item numbers, if when processing the billing Medicare deems you in eligible - the next appropriate item number will be used. This means the rebate may differ from what it quoted.

Advantages of AOA Clinic:

  • Access to GPs with expertise in ADHD.
  • Access to a psychiatrist's expertise via case conferences.
  • Increased access to specialist input at a lower cost via case conferences.
  • A smoother transition to your local GP when you are stable on the medication.

Failing to Attend

Booking an appointment and not attending takes away appointment times for other people who may really need them. We would like to be notified if you cannot attend with enough time to be able to offer that timeslot to someone else.

Failing to attend an appointment or cancelling with less than 72 hours notice will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to the cost of the appointment.
